OLIVER TO JOIN FOOD CHARITY THREATENED WITH ARREST FOR FEEDING UNHOUSED

ATLANTA - Chase Oliver will join activist Ericka Brown on Friday morning as she defies police demands and continues to feed the unhoused. Oliver also will make media and campaign stops in Columbia, South Carolina.

“I’m excited to once again travel through South Carolina,” says Oliver, 37, Rolling Stone’s “Most Influential Libertarian” and Libertarian presidential hopeful. “While I am in South Carolina, I will be taking a break from campaigning to help feed local unhoused people and pushing back against the police seeking to stop aid organizations from doing this work. This event, which is being held by Be Kind Be Great in conjunction with You Are The Power is the kind of citizen activism I love.”

Oliver will spend Thursday and Friday in South Carolina, then Saturday and Sunday in North Carolina. Throughout the weekend, he will join local activists and participate in local campaign events.

Combining his passion for activism at campaign stops and appearances, Oliver will join Brown, who founded Be Kind, Be Great. She is known as “The Fish Lady” for the monthly fish frys she sponsors for the charity. She continues to serve meals despite threats from Columbia police a month ago for serving meals on public property, according to a report by You Are The Power. She went before the City of Columbia City Council, where she was assured the city would help her find a permanent spot. She has heard nothing since then.

You Are the Power helped organize Friday’s protest. You Are the Power was founded by the 2020 Libertarian candidate for Vice President Spike Cohen, who lives in South Carolina.
