ATLANTA - Chase Oliver said voters will find their power when they appreciate how much they have in common and shrug off the polarizing rhetoric from the Republicans and Democrats.
“I’m looking forward to taking the stage in Iowa,” says Oliver, 38, Rolling Stone’s “Most Influential Libertarian” and Libertarian presidential hopeful. “The theme of my remarks will be about how we can stop being divided by the duopoly and unite ourselves behind the principles of liberty.”
Oliver became the first non-Republican or Democrat to qualify for the Iowa Soapbox. The candidate qualified for his slot after meeting voters while campaigning at the Harrison County Fair on July 22.

Republicans and Democrats were the only candidates qualifying for the Soapbox since it began in 1972. Last year, the Libertarian Party of Iowa gained major party status and a place on the Soapbox after gubernatorial candidate Rick Stewart received 2.4 percent of the vote.
Oliver became Georgia’s first openly gay Senate candidate in 2022, and his national attention grew following his debate with incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock and an empty podium set aside for opponent Herschel Walker. Oliver garnered over 80,000 votes and forced a runoff between the Republican and Democratic candidates.
Broadcast coverage includes PBS, CNN, Fox Business, and CSPAN. Print coverage includes The New York Times, The Washington Post, Bloomberg, and Rolling Stone, which labels him the “Most Influential Libertarian.”
Oliver is available for media interviews, university journalism, and communications students.
