ATLANTA - Chase Oliver goes into the New Hampshire debates this weekend with his first victory, placing first with almost 40.7 percent of the vote in the Libertarian Party’s first Iowa Caucus on a brutally cold Monday night.
“I am honored that caucus-goers in Iowa have organized and supported my campaign to a win. We invested time and effort in the state and this just shows that hard work pays off,” says Oliver, 38, Rolling Stone’s “Most Influential Libertarian” and Libertarian presidential hopeful. “As we travel across the country, we will continue to be the hardest working campaign out there. Voters want something new to feel good about voting for, and we will provide that choice.”
“Last year, I was the first candidate ever outside of the old parties to speak at the Iowa State Fair Soapbox. I’m ready to keep making history in the Hawkeye State on Caucus Day and throughout 2024.”
The event on Jan. 15 is the first presidential caucus since the Libertarian Party became a major party in Iowa after the 2022 election.
Oliver will go to New Hampshire this weekend, where he will debate presidential candidates that should have Republican, Democrat, and Independent participants ahead of the GOP Debate.
“As this campaign builds momentum from recent straw poll and caucus wins, I’ll be heading back to New Hampshire to participate in forums that will allow Libertarians the opportunity to have our message on stage with the two old parties,” Oliver says.
Libertarian delegates from Iowa and around the country will choose their party’s standard bearer at the Libertarian National Convention on Memorial Day weekend in Washington D.C.
In 2023, Chase Oliver:
Raised the most funds from donors among all Libertarian candidates for president;
Has the largest network of donors and volunteers from across the nation;
Traveled more miles and to more states - 44, with many repeat visits - than any of his competitors;
Helped fund-raise thousands of dollars and knocked on hundreds of doors to help local candidates;
Gained media attention for activism, including opposing Cop City in his hometown of Atlanta and protests to support charities providing poverty relief in Columbia, S.C.
Chase Oliver starts 2024 as the only Libertarian candidate invited to debate Republican, Democrat, and independent candidates at the Government Information Forum as part of the lead-up to the nation’s first primary in New Hampshire.
Oliver’s national attention grew after his debate with incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock and an empty podium set aside for opponent Herschel Walker. Oliver - Georgia’s first openly gay candidate for Senate - garnered over 80,000 votes and forced a runoff between the Republican and Democratic candidates.
Broadcast coverage includes PBS, CNN, Fox Business, and CSPAN. Print coverage includes The New York Times, The Washington Post, Bloomberg, and Rolling Stone, which labels him the “Most Influential Libertarian.”
Oliver is available for media interviews, including for university journalism and communications students.
